EVALUATION QUESTION 4/5: DISTRIBUTION/ ATTRACTING AUDIENCE

When it comes to distribution our film wont receive a mass amount of exposure like most big films, because well.... its not a BIG film or backed by BIG firms like

So in terms of getting our film out there we have to turn to the internet's free sites to get our some exposure

because lets face it... Its not going to be shown in the cinema (as in released in cinemas i.e more than one)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Youtube:
Pros:
-Its free so no costs
-Its used by loads of people (100s of millions) - Almost everyone who know about the internet also know about YOUTUBE = potential mass exposure.... MANY VIDEOS HAVE WENT VIRAL JUST OVERNIGHT i.e Friday by Rebecca Black... although a music video it conforms to the concept that films can go viral and receive Mass exposure via Youtube
-Positive feedback as well as your film getting rated can be very useful!

Cons:
- Things can get lost on Youtube
- Bad comments - Hateful comments, although some could be taken as constructive criticism
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VIMEO
Pros
- Similarly to youtube, its free so no costs
- Gains exposure as people use it aswell
- The positive or constructive feedback can also be very useful

 CONS:
- NOT AS BIG AND AS POPULAR AS YOUTUBE SO RELATIVELY SMALL AUDIENCE AND LITTLE EXPOSURE

THIS IS A SCREEN GRAB OF OUR POSTED ON VIMEO.COM

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Facebook
Pros:
- Arguably the largest and most popular social networking site on the planet - although twitter is up and coming- Either wayy this results in MASS exposure similarly to youtube. With over 500million users
- Fan pages/groups and profiles can be made on facebook to advertise
- Could be shared amongst family and friends who could share it with there friends and so on.

Cons:
- Yet again a lot of competition on facebook from other people doing the same thing
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Twitter
Pros:
- The second most popular social networking site with over 18 million users (in 2009, imagine how big it is now!)

Cons:
- Alot of competition
 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are many more social netwroking sites, but these being the main ones used by millions of people ( MYSPACE IS DEAD) around the world, would make it the main ones used.

INDEPENDENT FILM SITES THAT ARE MADE TO HELP FILMS BUY STUDENTS AND UP AND COMING FILM MAKERS GET EXPOSURE.
 1)  http://www.firstlightonline.co.uk/
The site first light helps up and coming film makers get there films out.... They are a lottery funded organization

Sunday times competition
Various competitions are held on this site and awards are given for many different categories 'Sunday Times Competition' is just one of many. This give young film makers a chance to compete and also gain exposure because the winner not only gets an award but also has there film shown as #1.
The winning film for this competition was HEY JUMPER  by Elishama Udorok
Hey Jumper by Elishama Udorok at First Light

 2) http://www.indiemoviesonline.com
Although less targeted at helping independent young film makers gain exposure this is more focused on the viewing end as it gives film fans a place to watch films for FREE. And the word FREE always gets people, so i can assume this site has a lot of users as the banner says 'best place to watch free movies' this can be used well to gain exposure and reach target audiences.

DVDs - 200 copies
Although were not backed by big film making industries, we are on the other hand backed by city and islington college who will distribute 200 DVD copies of our film to people in our AS media year. Along with this we are also able to place it on you tube :)

Film screening - SHOWN AT GREEN SCREEN CINEMA
on top of that our films are going to be screened in the cinema and according to Bernard apparently one of the 'best cinemas in London'. So its not completely budget :D... This means our films are going to be distributed in two ways via cinema and also via DVDs, we also have the personal choice of placing it on youtube :) and creating a twitter, facebook for it :)

LETS NOT FORGET THE OLDEST METHOD OF ATTRACTING AN AUDIENCE

 ...WORD
                 OF  MOUTHHHH

WE CAN ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE TO WATCH OUR FILMS AND WATCH THE NEWS SPREAD :)
